Research subject for a potential FP6 project

The present landscape structure (PLS) as a determining base of landscape-ecological proposals gives a frame conception of the quality of biotic element and economical utilization of the area. The present element of PLS appeared by the cooperation of anthropic and natural factors on primary landscape structure. Besides of common mapping units (forests, meadows, pastures, large-block arable land, built-up areas) special units connected with historical forms of utilization (extensively managed meadows and pastures, terraced and blocked narrow-belt fields, mosaic elements composed from narrow belts of arable land, perennial grass stands and non-forest tree vegetation) exist in the landscape to. Just mosaic elements of PLS are very important forms of utilization that can become the source of revitalization of natural potential and biodiversity for the surrounding intensively utilized regions. Their existence in the landscape is necessary also from the aspect of perception.
In the proposal of ecologically optimum utilization of the area is necessary to conserve the ecological-scenery values of the area not only by the help of protected localities but also by extensively utilized agricultural forms and mosaic elements as well as non-traditional moods of landscape use.
