Research subject for a potential FP6 project

The research activities are mainly focused on plant RNA viruses (less viroids, DNA viruses and phytoplasmas).
Experimental studies include the analyses of genome variability and recombina-tion events, pathogenesis, epidemiology, development of diagnostic technologies. Our collection contains several original virus isolates, e.g., AMV, BBSV, PEMV, PPV, natural PPV recombinants , PNRSV and otherwise.
Recently, the plant transformation technologies have been introduced. The experimental systems of tobacco transformed with the alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV) CP gene, PPV P3 gene and gene coding for human alpha 2 interferon, and lucern transformed with AMV CP are under investiga-tion at present.
We have experience with the small-scale field tests too.The research team collaborates with supervising and research institutes of Ministry of Agriculture.
