Research subject for a potential FP6 project

Monitoring the environment for the presence of compounds which may adversely affect human health and local ecosystem is a fundamental part of a regulation to maintain a habitable environment. The adoption of new materials and new principles of transduction techniques play an important role in the process of improving the characteristic of existing instruments and in the development of new measurement systems. One possible way could be the use of biosensors. The analytical application of biologically important enzymes offers broad possibilities for the developing of new techniques of analytical monitoring.
In our laboratory we have constructed the biosensor based on the biotinylated phospholipid and streptavidin – modified glucose oxidase for the estimation of glucose. The direct amperometric immunosensor for the detection of antigen – antibody interaction on the gold support modified by γ-chain specific anti human IgG was checked. Immobilization of avidin–modified acetylcholin-esterase and choline oxidase on a metal-supported biotinylated membrane allows to develop a minisensor for detection of environmental pollutants. The peculiarities of glucose biosensors based on different generation of supramolecular structure such as dendrimers have been studied by amperometry and QCM techniques. This study shown that stable glucose biosensor can be obtained with low generation of dendrimers.
