Research subject for a potential FP6 project

Proposal abstract:
On woody species in urban environment about 300 species of parasitic microscopic dry rot fungi have been detected. Their negative influence has been increasing after unprofessional treatment of trees. Detection of basic causes of their injuries and the plan of effective protective measures will improve general health condition of the greenery in the modified environmental conditions.
Objectives:
The aim of the proposed project is to:
  • extend and deepen knowledge on sources of injuries of woody plants in the modified environmental conditions
  • study on biology of originators of fungal diseases and on bionomy of harmful entomofauna with regard to modified ecological condition and primary weakening of woody plants
  • elaborate effective protective measures for improving health condition of woody plants
  • optimalisation of woody plant species for urban vegetation structure from point of sink affection to greenhouse gases immissions

  • Recent international cooperation of the research team
