Research subject for a potential FP6 project

The aim of the project is to obtain new data on the role of heart sarcolemmal transport enzyme systems for sodium, potassium and calcium ,expression of selected genes and intracellular connection of cardiomyocytes(connexin 43) in the structure and function of myocardium in defined stages of hypertension development using the model of spontaneously hypertensive rats. The main result of the project is the possible involvement of coordinated function of the sarcolemmal sodium and calcium pump and ATP-sensitive potassium channels in the intracellular signalling cascade in the course of myocardial remodeling.
